Excellence in Informatics Level 1 accreditation

GMSS has recently achieved Excellence in Informatics Level 1 accreditation as part of the North West Skills Development Network’s Excellence in Informatics accreditation scheme.

The award recognises the organisation’s commitment to staff development and the professionalism and hard work of GMSS teams that ensure our informatics processes align with best practice.

Accreditation helps to ensure that the informatics community in the North West is recognised nationally for their proactive approach in supporting healthcare.

Teams across the organisation did a fantastic job in gathering evidence and preparing for the assessment. Following the assessment, it was acknowledged that there are a number of practices already embedded in the organisation that would put us in a strong position to achieve the next level of accreditation. The IM&T leadership team have thanked all involved and in particular would like to extend their thanks to Gillian Newsome, IS Projects and EDHR Coordinator and GMSS Informatics Skills Development Lead, who led and co-ordinated the accreditation process.

Steven Bloor, Chair of the Excellence in Informatics Steering Group said: “On behalf of the Excellence-in-Informatics Steering Group, I would like to congratulate the GMSS IM&T team on this excellent achievement. It is my personal belief that accreditation demonstrates your organisations commitment to your staff and highlighting the professionalism of your department. Well done!”

Since achieving the accreditation Martin Sheridan, GMSS Head of IT Delivery and Development, has gone on to become lead assessor for NHS West Cheshire CCG achieving level 1 accreditation and Gillian Newsome, second assessor for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS FT working towards achieving level 1/2 accreditation.

We are already working towards obtaining level 2 accreditation. Watch this space!
